The flowers were designed in Rhino and FDM printed in PLA on Ultimaker2 and Cubicon 3D printers. The stringiness of the flowers is part of the nature of FDM printing.
The necklace was assembled by hand. The beads in the middle of the flowers are Swarovski pearls. The bead in the middle of the center flower is a tourmalated quartz. They were secured by nylon string that was melted and an end cap. The flowers were strung together by brass chain.
Shown is the front of the necklace, close ups of the flowers, and how it was assembled.
This piece was designed as a prototype to push the limitations of FDM printing.
